PTJFA provides nearly 300 Peters Township youth athletes ages 6 through 12 years the opportunity to learn and play the great game of football. We offer a tackle football program in the fall and a flag football and skills clinic in the spring. Our coaches and volunteers are committed to providing a positive experience for our players and their families. Our home football games are held Saturdays in the fall at Hofbauer Field in Peterswood Park and the PT Middle School Football Field.
2011 PTJFA Board Members & Committee Chairs
Shawn has been involved with PTJFA as a parent, coach and board member for over 9 years. During that time he has been an assistant coach for 2 teams and head coach for 7 teams. In 2009, as head coach for PT Black 6&7, Shawn helped to lead that team to a G19 Super Bowl victory and again in 2011 for the 8/9 PT Red. In addition to his coaching, Shawn has also been an active member of PTJFA's Board serving one year as recording secretary and three years as Treasurer, and 4 years as President. Shawn and his wife, Sheri, have four boys, two currently involved in PTJFA. In addition to PTJFA, the McCalls are active supporters of other PT Parks & Recreation sports programs, including swimming, baseball, lacrosse, soccer and basketball.
Demetri has been involved with PTJFA as a parent and coach for over 7 years. During that time he has been a head coach, an assistant coach for several teams, served as Recording Secretary from 2011-2012, and At-Large Director in 2010. In 2012, as head coach for PT Red 12, Demetri helped to lead the team to a G19 Super Bowl victory. In 2011 and 2007, as an assistant coach for PT White 10&11 and PT Black 6&7, Demetri helped to lead those teams to G19 Super Bowl wins. He has also coached other Peters Township recreational programs including soccer and baseball. Demetri and his wife, Shanon, have lived in Peters Township for 15 years. They have four children, two of which are involved in PTJFA. In addition to football, the Mahramas children have been involved in a number of township sports and activities including lacrosse, soccer, baseball, wrestling, cheerleading and dance.
Karl has been involved with PTJFA as a parent, coach and board member for more than five years. During that time Karl has been a coach for five years and a member of the board for three years. Karl and his wife, Nicole, have lived in Peters Township for five years and have two boys involved in PTJFA. In addition to their support of PTJFA, the Mocharkos are involved with PT recreation and travel basketball and baseball programs.
Mark has been involved with PTJFA as a coach for the past 2 years. Last season Mark was the head coach for PT Red 6/7. A 1989 graduate of Seton-La Salle High School, Mark played football for 4 years at Duquesne University and then coached one season as a graduate assistant offensive line coach. Mark and his wife, Mary, moved to Peters Township in 2009. Their 3 boys are involved with PTJFA, baseball and basketball.
Ed has been involved with PTJFA for over three years as a parent, assistant coach, and head coach. He has also coached other Peters Township recreational and travel programs including baseball, basketball and soccer. A lifelong resident of the South Hills, Ed and his wife, Meredith, moved to Peters Township five years ago. The Wertmans have four children, all of whom are involved in numerous township sports and activities.
